You’ll definitely need shoes that can handle mud, water, and the overall nasty swamp environment. The absolute best all-round choice here are duck boots.
Here’s why…
When you go camping in the swamp, you’ll come across areas with both thick and thin mud. No doubt, it will be very wet as well. You’ll require shoes that are not only comfortable but also able to handle the thick mud and the nasty swamp environment.
You could also come across areas that require you to pass through not only mud that is dense but deep as well. The water could even be ’til the ankle or even go beyond all the way up to the knee. If you’re wearing the knee-high rubber boots you’ll have no problems passing through the area.
These boots definitely solve their purpose but they could be uncomfortable to walk a long distance because of their fit and overall design. There will be nasty areas as I talked about before but you’ll also come across areas which do have thick mud and are very wet but the mud’s not deep.
When you walk in these parts you’ll find that the mud only comes up a couple of inches surrounding your shoe. It’s not required that you wear knee-high boots here. That’s why the best shoes for camping in the swamp are duck boots. These will easily cover your feet well enough for the environment.
The duck boots, also known as bean boots, are a type of water-resistant boots. These boots have a rubber sole and a leather upper portion. The rubber portion of the boots can handle all the wet and muddy areas you’ll pass through in the swamp.
So, the two best choices for camping in the swamp, if you really want to cover all situations, are knee-high rubber boots and duck boots. The knee-high boots will help you to move through the areas with thick, deep mud and the duck boots will help you where the mud isn’t too deep. It’s best to carry a pair of both types of shoes and change when required depending on the swamp area.
